Ability to re-parent a Classy payment to a different Opportunity in NPSP (Pledges)
Our organization relies heavily on pledges for fundraising. Pledges are entered as unpaid opportunities and donations made against the pledges are added to the opportunity until the pledge is fulfilled.
For online donations we use Classy. And the Classy for SF integration automatically creates a new Opportunity in SF. When those donations are supposed to be payments against pledges, we have had to delete the Opportunity in SF and create a payment against the pledge in the existing correct Opportunity.
It would be GREAT if we were able to simply "re-parent" the Classy payment in SF so that it is moved the correct Opportunity... rather than having to delete and recreate it.
I originally submitted this to SF Support and this was their response:
"This is a great idea but this is more about how Classy assigns its records than anything the Salesforce.org developers can do. The Payment record is detail to the Opportunity master record and that's why Payments can't be reassigned. It's unlikely we'll be changing that model. This is something that perhaps Classy can add to its roadmap to better match gifts so you don't have to reassign payments."

This is also an issue for my organization. We have to follow the same protocol as Sandra Peterson described. Would love to be able to reparent online Classy payments!

Same problem. Just went over this with SF case support. They couldn't help me.
It looks like my options are, leave the newly created opportunity and payment records (from online donation) with copious notes that it's for the pledge, and then delete one of the payments associated with the pledge type (thus preventing duplicate amount). Or, delete the online opportunity/payment records, and enter info into payment record that was initially set up with the opportunity pledge type and also include copious notes.

We have recently established a mult-year pledge program for major donors. In the past, these donors mailed in an annual check, and more recently with our integration with Classy, they have chosen to pay their pledges monthly via credit card, rather than annually. So we have the same problem...open opportunities created in Sales Force that are not linking up to the original pledge. And we have to manually change those credit card payments which is really time consuming. If this link to Sales Force could be automated we would greatly appreciate it.

This is a problem for our org too as we are using Classy/WePay for recurring gifts. Pledges are our nonprofit's bread and butter and recurring gifts are the most convenient way of paying them down

Our organization has the same issue. We create Opportunities in the Pledge stage in a variety of circumstances, and donors will often make the payment via credit card. Right now I would estimate this represents 200-300 transactions per year for us. We need an efficient way to represent this in SF.

This is also a problem for our organization. If you're stewarding donors the way Salesforce NPSP is meant to be used, it seems it would be a consistent Classy/Salesforce integration issue for other organizations as well. There is a suggestion in the Trailblazer Community to be able to merge opportunities https://success.salesforce.com/ideaView?id=08730000000Idv0AAC, but that suggestion has not been acted upon despite overwhelming support.
